Princeville Baptist Church was started by Coy Leach, a Baptist church planter, in August of 1970. Pastor Leach began with a Bible study in the home of some local residents’. Within a few short months, PBC moved to a store front building in town.
In the late 70’s, one of the church members, Carl Keller, realized the need for the church to have more room, as the congregation began to grow. He donated the land at the corner of W. Douglas St. and S. Cottage Grove Rd. The church worked together to build an 8,000 square foot building. Over the years, Princeville Baptist has added a church parsonage on the east edge of town, an annex that serves to house church vans and also contains two classrooms, and a nearby house to house guests and serve as a place to house additional staff. Just a few years ago, PBC also purchased the adjoining 2 ½ acres to the east for future expansion.
